Elguea Horizontes Hotel & SPA is located on the northern coast
of Villa Clara Province, one hour away from Varadero and ten minutes
from El Salto and Ganuza beaches. Its wonderful climate makes Elguea
an excellent place to harmoniously combine, holidays and health
care. But the vital treasure of Elguea are its waters, that constitute,
due to their composition, a source of health and quality of life.
Elguea waters are hypermineralized, they have high contents of chlorine,
sodium, and bromine salts, and low contents of radon, and sulfide.
Their mean temperature is 45°C and they flow at a rate of 25
litters per second. Due to all these properties, its waters are
prescribed for the following therapeutic treatments: relaxation,
revitalization, anti-stress, fitness, against obesity, problems
in the locomotive system, respiratory, circulatory and neurological
problems.
The mineral and medicinal properties of these waters were accidentally
discovered in the 19th century when one of the slaves of the Elguea
family, that was suffering from a skin disease was set free to prevent
him from infecting the rest of the crew. Some years later, he was
found completely cured, thanks to some "miraculous springs
with hot waters, located near the Elguea family house". Once
the curative properties of these waters were known, the explotation
of the place began with the construction of a small hotel.
At present an excellent SPA, the Elguea Horizontes Hotel and SPA,
is considered one of the most important of its kind in Latin America.
Its Thermal Center is a modernly equipped facility, with an extension
of 1300 square meters, where you can enjoy beauty care and treatments
improve the quality of life in general, based on the use of the
SPA's waters and mineral-medicinal muds.
The Hotel also offers its guests day and night animation, tours
of the historical Santa Clara city and of the northern cays, with
the attraction of their virgin beaches and beautiful landscapes,
as well as tours of places with historical and social interest in
the region.
